Ben Ish Chai — Light of Wisdom

This powerful portrait honors the revered Sephardic sage Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, known throughout the Jewish world as the Ben Ish Chai.

A master of Torah, halacha, and Jewish mysticism, the Ben Ish Chai inspired generations through teachings that united profound spiritual insight with practical guidance for everyday life. His wisdom continues to shape Jewish learning and spiritual practice around the world.

In this contemporary portrait, artist Avraham Rafael | Alan Najman reimagines the Ben Ish Chai through a dynamic visual language of color, texture, and sacred symbolism. Faceted forms and mosaic-like fragments shape his likeness, representing the many dimensions of Torah wisdom. Energetic brushstrokes and cosmic splashes evoke the living force of divine inspiration.

The vibrant palette—rich blues, radiant golds, and fiery reds—expresses both the spiritual fire of Torah study and the mystical light that the righteous bring into the world.

Part of the Chariots of Hashem collection, this artwork brings ancient Jewish tradition into dialogue with contemporary expression, creating a portrait that feels both timeless and alive.

This is a one-of-one original artwork—the one and only piece available for sale. No additional editions or reproductions will be offered.

It is a tribute to a great teacher whose enduring light continues to guide and inspire.
