VAV — Symbol of Connection & Completion

The Hebrew letter VAV embodies the power of connection. Its very name means “hook” — something that joins two realms into one. In the Torah (Exodus 27:9–10), silver hooks fastened the curtains of the Mishkan, the sacred dwelling place that united heaven and earth. Just as the Mishkan served as a habitation for divine presence, the Torah continues to serve as a living conduit between the spiritual and the physical.

Numerically, VAV represents six — a number deeply tied to unity and wholeness. Six recalls the angels in Ezekiel’s vision whose wings enabled ascent and connection, and the six books of the Mishnah through which learning becomes a path toward closeness with the Divine. The very form of the VAV suggests a channel flowing from above to below — a reminder that spiritual awareness is meant to be lived and expressed in the physical world.

Six also symbolizes completion: a world embraced on all sides — north, south, east, west, above, and below. When the Jewish people journeyed through the desert, they were surrounded by six Clouds of Glory, protecting and guiding them forward. This image speaks to life itself — continual movement, growth, and adaptation while staying rooted in purpose.
